Instructions: water pump base extension

  • Extend the base on the short style of pump by inserting a small piece of 2″ PVC pipe into the pump base. The fit into the base of these particular style of pumps is usually pretty tight.
  • Ease insertion into the plastic base of the pump briefly immersing it in boiling water to soften the plastic. Don’t overheat. It may take a bit of force to get it pressed in (Watch video). Repeat as necessary to get it inserted.
  • Chamfering the edge of the pipe piece can also help get it started. Once PVC piece is inserted, push the pipe end into a 2″ PVC coupler.
  • After insertion, finish the magnetic base as described in the USB rechargeable dispenser pump hack post.
